Granite signs are zero maintenance, a major consideration, and if they need cleaned then a wash with clean water is sufficient. They do not crack like wood, they do not need to be oiled or varnished, they do not stain, blemish or tarnish like bronze and other metals and they can be left out all year allowing your greens staff valuable time to get on with looking after the course and not wasting time renovating signs through the winter.
